We are Katja and Aga, two fibre artists and passionate yarn spinners who came together to create Sound of Spinning (SOS). Our brand is dedicated to producing artisan, one-of-a-kind yarns and fibres tailored for weavers, knitters, crocheters, and spinners like you.
Our journey began in our studios located in the picturesque County Galway. Inspired by the ever-changing wild Atlantic, the local landscapes, and the rich Irish culture, Sound of Spinning was born. We are committed to showcasing Irish wool varieties such as Galway, Cheviot, and Mayo Hill by blending them with other “softer” fibers from both animal and plant origins to produce truly unique blends.
At Sound of Spinning, we cater to the wonderfully creative community of spinners by offering unique hand-dyed fiber tops and hand-carded batts. These are designed to ignite your imagination and enhance your spinning experience. From luxurious wool blends to wild art batts, our offerings include the finest Irish wool and other premium materials suitable for all levels of expertise, from seasoned spinners to curious novices.
Each of our hand-spun yarns is created on traditional spinning wheels, offering a variety of textures, colors, and thicknesses. As most of our items are one-of-a-kind, the limited quantities ensure that your creations will stand out as uniquely yours.
