Undyed wool

Discover the Beauty of Undyed, Natural Wool

We’re excited to introduce this brand new shop category with a carefully curated selection of fibres from Ireland, the UK, and beyond.
Perfect for spinners and felters, this collection offers a unique opportunity to explore the natural textures, colours, and characteristics of different sheep breeds. Whether you’re looking for the soft bounce of Bluefaced Leicester, the crisp structure of Jacob, or the rich heritage of rare and native wools, this range invites you to experiment, create, and find new favourites to work with.

We’ve also included different wool preparation techniques, so make sure you check the differences between wool **top** and **sliver**.

**Wool Top**
– Wool top is a processed preparation of wool fibres that has been thoroughly combed to remove short fibres (noils) and align the remaining fibres parallel to each other.
– It is smooth, dense, and ideal for **worsted spinning**, felting, and dyeing.
– Because it lacks short fibres, it produces strong, smooth, and less fuzzy yarns.

**Wool Sliver**
– Wool sliver is wool that has been carded but not combed. The fibres can still aligned to some extent, but short fibres are not removed.
– It is softer, airier, and loftier than top, making it well-suited for **woollen spinning**, felting, and certain types of hand spinning where a loftier yarn is desired.
– It retains more natural crimp and air pockets, leading to a fluffier, warmer yarn.
